Ranjit Senghera

Ranjit Senghera is a Programme Specialist with NHS West Midlands Regional Development Centre and is currently

  • leading on the Equality and Human Rights agenda within the RDC;
  • leading on Equalities Projects with regional mental health commissioners and working with the wider Strategic Health Authority as an Equality Champion for the RDC;
  • involved in the development of the Regional Equality and Diversity Network; and
  • a key member of the SHA Equality and Diversity Steering group.

Ranjit is trained as a regional coach with NHS West Midlands and provides coaching and mentoring to key individuals in the region in developing talent and leadership potential in the NHS.

Ranjit's focus as the Race Equality Regional Lead for NHS West Midlands RDC (a role which she previously carried out for NIMHE West Midlands and CSIP West Midlands) continues to be working strategically with key stakeholders and communities across the West Midlands to implement the Delivering Race Equality (DRE) Action Plan until 2010.

Ranjit has been working with the National DRE central team, serving as Interim Deputy Director on an eighteen month secondment, leading on areas such as DRE Mainstreaming, the National DRE Ambassadors Programme and the National DRE Review
 
Ranjit has been instrumental in ensuring that DRE is implemented through national and regional work and has served on National forums and steering groups to work to mainstream the Race Equality in Mental Health care agenda, alongside campaigning and implementing the wider equality and diversity agenda within Health and Social care.
 
Ranjit previously worked for Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Trust as Mental Health Promotion Manager/Standard One Lead for Mental Health Promotion. Prior to this, she worked for Northern Birmingham Mental Health Trust's Asian Services Directorate as Public Educational Officer.
 
Ranjit has extensive background in working in the mainstream Voluntary Sector and specifically the Black and Asian Community Voluntary Sector around a number of issues including Older Adults, Community Development, Communities & Mental Health, Advocacy Services, Arts Co-ordination and Asian/Black Carers.
 
Ranjit is a social researcher by training and has authored and co-authored a number of key programmes and projects across the country concerned with Race Equality and health services for BME communities.
 
Ranjit works on the belief of developing effective capacity and community ownership with all communities, to improve the quality of Health and Social Care services for all.
