Child and Adolescent Mental Health (FDSC)

Working with children and young people is both rewarding and diverse. West Midlands Regional Development Centre Children, Young People and Families programme and the University of Worcester have developed a foundation degree course, in consultation with a range of employers and practitioners from child and adolescent mental health services in the West Midlands region. It will be relevant to you if you are already employed in this care sector or working in primary care and are seeking to extend your knowledge and skills for career progression. Equally, it is an ideal opportunity if you are interested in starting to work with children or young people who may have mental health problems. The course will equip you with the specialist knowledge and practical skills needed to support children and young people with mental health problems and their families and carers as well gaining insights into the range of services in this field. This Foundation Degree also develops transferable skills, including effective communication skills, group work and individual and family interventions. In particular, the course will enable you to look more deeply into issues concerning children and young people with mental health problems and reflect on practice.
