This pathway event captured the current reality of alcohol treatment in Warwickshire.
This meeting flowed naturally from the "Choosing the right path" event with several familiar faces present.
Introductions and welcome from Lorna Ferguson and Dr Mike Graveney were followed by presentations on the current service provision.
After an opportunity for networking we began mapping the current experience of travelling through the alcohol treatment pathways in Warwickshire, with the ultimate aim of comparing this to the Models of Care for alcohol misusers (MoCAM).
Each tier of services, from Tier 1 (alcohol related information and advice) through to Tier 4 (specialist inpatient treatment and residential rehabilitation) were considered separately. The mapping was facilitated by a small team from CSIP West Midlands.
An extended lunch break allowed a chance to network as well as time to devour the delicious food and visit the shop at Garden Organic Ryton.
After lunch we were treated to a lively presentation by the YOBs from Hybrid Arts.
They showed us two of their videos "Strife", which has an anti-drugs message, and "Respect ya self" about staying safe sexually. More about the projects development here. The videos were well received and gave us energy for the final mapping sessions..
Throughout the day there was a sense of working together and capturing the information from the expert-delegates in the room. People particularly valued networking opportunities. Before leaving each delegate made a commitment to change one thing, contact one person or share the days learning with one person when they got back to work.
