Health and Social Care Awards 2010

Following on from our highly successful awards last year, NHS West Midlands is again strongly committed to ensuring the success of the 2010 Health and Social Care Awards and your support in this would be much appreciated.

These awards are a flagship event for the Department of Health, run in partnership with the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement. The Health and Social Care Awards present an unparalleled opportunity to showcase the best examples of innovation and excellence we have to offer in the West Midlands.  It is vital that we maximize their success by raising awareness and promoting the Regional Awards among our staff and organisations, and by identifying and encouraging teams to apply.

We will be running the Regional Awards scheme for West Midlands, in partnership with colleagues in Social Care, and with the National Health and Social Care Awards team.  In addition to playing an important role in promoting the awards, we will also be involved in reviewing and judging all local entries and hosting a Regional awards ceremony in October 2010; anyone who attended last year’s awards will tell you this promises to be a lively, entertaining and enjoyable event.

The award categories for this year reflect the many different ways in which people can contribute to excellence in health and social care, not only in service provision but also through commissioning and innovative ways of working. The awards are now open for entries until 18th June.

Please promote these awards within your organisations as widely as possible, and include a link on your intranet to the health and social care awards website. Also, could you identify any projects which have won local awards initiatives which could be entered for these awards.
