National Health and Social Care Criminal Justice plan launched

"Improving Health, Supporting Justice, National Delivery Plan of the Health and Criminal Justice Board" was launched on Tuesday of this week.  This plan sets out national goals for improving offender health and social care in prisons and in the community.  This plan follows a public consultation in late 2008 and the publication of Lord Bradley review into the needs of individuals with mental health needs and learning disability in the criminal justice system.

This plan will also be followed on December 8th with the publication of "Healthy Children, Safer Communities" the delivery plan for young people in the criminal justice system.

In NHS West Midlands we are currently bringing together a regional delivery plan, for information about this or more information on the document, do contact David Williams, Programme Consultant in the Regional Development Centre.  David can be contacted on david.williams@wmrdc.org.uk or 07762059966.
