We are pleased to say that the recently-published (23rd February 2010) Statement on Regional Strategies includes focus on:

• promoting Health and Well-being
• tackling priority areas for Health and Social Inequalities, and also
• tacking Social Exclusion.

The Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 (LDEDC Act) makes provision for Responsible Regional Authorities to prepare the new style Regional Strategies.

The Policy Statement sets out the Governments policy framework for the preparation of Regional Strategies prepared under Part 5 of the LDEDC Act. It provides policy on the preparation and revision of Regional Strategies and sets out the main expectations on their form, content, implementation and monitoring.
