
Nick qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 1981, since then he has worked in a wide range of mental health care settings, including Psychiatric Intensive Care, Older Adults Assessment and Community Mental Health in Birmingham. Whilst at the former Birmingham Health Authority he set up a primary care based counselling service as well as shared care arrangements between Primary Care and Substance Misuse services.
He was Senior Lecturer in Community Mental Health Programme at the University of Birmingham where he also provided accredited training programmes for mental health and social care services. Next he led the Adult Learning, Education and Development Centre which supported the early implementation of the National Service Framework for Mental Health in the West Midlands.
Nick is now a part time Programme Specialist in the West Midlands Regional Development Centre providing service development to acute in-patient wards, suicide prevention, database design for Third Sector Organisations as well as additional issues around mental health raised locally.
