
Michael has extensive experience in working across research, policy and
practice at local, regional and national levels. He has a track record
of success in large scale project management and delivering for
improved policy and practice. Michael's core humanist philosophy and
democratic values, and a strong set of core skills mean he can flexibly
work across different contexts to achieve the best with and for
people. His skills include research methodology, evaluation and
improvement methods, policy analysis, knowledge management and
brokering, and communication with and across diverse groups.
Michael
has 10 years of experience working in health and social care, with
other experience in academic research, teaching and management. His
interests include how to commission and work to deliver better quality
and outcomes across systems, greater public control, professional
judgment and ethics, and delivering and evaluating innovation.
Michael is currently working with the Productivity Improvement Programme for Mental Health acros the Region to develop mental health care pathways, and with Primary Care Chief Executives on a scoping project examining mental health capacity across the region, and with Heart of Birmingham Primary Care Trust to evaluate their Local Enhanced Service for Primary Mental Health Care. He is also interested in innovation and links to research across the Region and personalisation in health and social care.
