Learning Outcomes

That participants have a basic understanding of the subjects of Mental Health and Mental Illness with areas covered including:

  • Definitions and language used in relation to mental health - in particular the meaning of mental health as distinct from mental illness.
  • Basic understanding of Mental Illness including characteristics.
  • How to promote and protect the mental health of yourself and others.
  • Common signs of mental distress and sources of support.
  • The damage caused by stigma and discrimination, the facts behind common myths surrounding mental illness and appropriate language in relation to mental ill-health.
